Artisk is an AI-powered, all-in-one design tool that aims to help small businesses and startups easily create professional branding assets, overcoming traditional barriers like limited expertise and tight budgets.
My Role
I improved the customization tools with clarity and AI guidance, enabling 95% of non-designers to create professional-looking designs on their own.
I optimized the workflows for creating, editing, and managing designs into clear, intuitive steps, helping 100% users navigate the platform more easily than before.
Our Business Goals
1
Enable non-designers to create professional brand assets.
2
Ensure scalability to cater to diverse branding needs.
3
Expand market reach to small businesses, startups, and designers.
4
Boost user retention by incorporating user feedback consistently.
To support Charlotte Luo and align with our business goals, I made the following design decisions:
01
Redesign AI Chat Flow
To help users clearly express design needs, adapts to diverse cases, and guides them more effectively to the right pages.

02
Redesign Logo Editting Panel
To balance smart AI guidance with flexible manual control, letting users shape their logos with confidence and creativity.

03
Redesign Design Asset Management
I redesigned the project folders using familiar visual cues, making them easier to manage and adjust with less effort.

04
Redesign Product Customization
To help users turn logos into real products, with customization tools that are easier to find, and easier to use.

05
Design a Feedback System
Recognizing that design isn’t always easy, I built a feedback system, creating space for users to share frustrations and for us to design better with them.

06
Considerations of Designing with AI
I bridged the gap between users and AI by helping users prompt more clearly, creating quicker feedback loops, and supporting more confident decision-making.

How do I know my decisions are successful?

What If users aren’t satisfied with the logo?
They can personalize it using built-in tools and AI support. I redesigned the tools and AI interaction to improve the editing flow.

User B
Graphic Designer
“I just want to quickly change the color or font, but there’s no option to do that.”

User C
Front-end Developer
“It’s a bit confusing about how the chat connects to the logo”

User A
Business Owner
“Not sure if my changes are saved—should I click something?”

My Design Solutions

Reassurance Through Save & Export
01
One key change is adding “Confirm” and “Download” buttons to the top right corner. This gives users peace of mind knowing their changes are saved, and makes it easy to download their current design whenever they’re ready.

Management
Where do users manage all the design projects they created?
To help users revisit and refine their work, I redesigned the project folders—making it easier to organize, access, and build on their designs.

User A
Business Owner
“Why are project folders under the design section? That layout’s really throwing me off.”

User C
Front-end Developer
“If I wanna add a new project, I’m not sure if I should click the button up top or the one down at the bottom.”

“The side column and the main panel are basically showing the same information.”

My Design Solutions
Splitting Flows for Better Focus
01
I chose to move all project management actions under the “Projects” tab to intentionally separate them from design—since they involve distinct user flows and goals, so each task feel more focused and less distracting.

User A
Business Owner
“it starts with a pattern by default—but what if I just want a simple logo instead?”

User B
Graphic Designer
“There aren’t many ways to customize the pattern—can I edit it?”

Product
Manager
“Allowing users to add text may introduce manufacturing complexity, particularly with alignment and production consistency.”

Layout Redesign
01
I enlarged the editing area to give users more space to make visual decisions comfortably. I also reorganized all the icons and placed them within the editing space to reduce context switching.

Feedback System
What if users feel stuck or unheard?
I built an optional, on-demand feedback system right into key features—ready when users need clarity or want to speak up.
Letting Users Tell Us What's Missing
01
Knowing that our office supplies might not meet everyone’s needs, I gave users a simple way to let us know. It’s a small step to show we’re listening—and that their goals matter in the design process.

AI Design
Consideration
What if users don’t know how to talk to AI—what to ask, how to ask it, or what the responses mean?
AI isn’t a magic wand—it needs context, clarity, and guidance. Without support, users can get lost in vague prompts or misread results. That’s why I designed guardrails, turning confusion into clarity.
Inviting User Input to Guide AI Outcomes
01
I make it easy for users to share quick feedback, so they feel involved and not just accepting whatever AI suggests. It also helps us learn what’s not working and avoid similar issues later.
Refining User Input for Better Results
02
Helping Users Decide with AI Rationale
03
Design System
Over three months, I updated a Figma-based design system, refining textbox and button sizes, component states (hover/pressed styles), typography, and grid system to ensure visual consistency across products.
